Sam Spaulding is a Ph.D. Student in the Personal Robots Group at the MIT Media Lab. He received a BS with distinction in Computer Science from Yale University in 2013 and is the recipient of an NSF Gradate Research Fellowship. His research focuses on developing the technology for perceptive, artificially intelligent robot tutors that, like good human teachers, can sense emotional and affective data from humans, use that information to construct models of human behavior and cognition, and act intelligently based on the predictions of those models. Previously, he worked at Jibo Inc., the Yale Social Robotics Lab, Amazon.com, and Walt Disney Imagineering Research.
